Virginia Tax list: John Marrs 200 A. in King WilliamCounty 1704:

John Marrs, a Scotsman, was living in Virginia in 1760. He had two sons,Hugh and William, Hugh being the older. Hugh married and reared three sons and one daughter: James, Sam, Alex, and Catherine. Hugh moved to Georgia about 1784, where Catherine was born that year. It seems that Hugh's wife was of Irish
descent.

    In depositions for land claims in Lovely Purchase. William Whitson, JP for Mulberry, Crawford Co for Betsy Butler. The she was living in Lovely with her SON-IN-LAW James Marrs. That she removed to Mulberry and STILL LIVES with her son-in-law James Marrs.

    Look in 1830 Mulberry Crawford Co and 1840 Mulberry Franklin Co and you see just one James Marrs this could be. So either Mary Houston is wrong, or Betsy remarried to a Mr Butler.
